Oskar

You may not know, but we run with a social media influencer. He goes by the name @oskar.hamilton on Instagram. Not to flex, but he’s a theatrically trained thespian…. er dogspian…. playing the role of Sandy in a stage version of “Annie.”

Those legit credentials aside, we just know him as Oskar… The occasional grump who has been running with us on Friday’s for the past 3 years! We love Oskar almost as much as his mama. He currently graces the cover of our awesome website with Gwynne majestically running away from The Capitol. (Insert your own political joke here I suppose) That picture is all pig tails and shaggy hair!

Fun Fact:

When I invited his mama to meet his new runner (Gwynne) I thought it would be fun to grab some tacos at District Taco. I offered to treat everyone only to realize I left my wallet in the car 6 blocks away. Ma stepped up graciously and sent me back in with her debit card. Luckily, Venmo saved my bacon but the egg was already on my face. Honestly, this family has been a small biz owner’s dream with their roll-with-it attitude. Now if only I could Xerox them!

Quite possibly the most regal of all our puppers! This one has grown into a fantastic athlete that can focus and run for days. She began just after turning one and at the time had a ton of puppy energy, which is why they called us! She acted like everyones kid sister at the beginning being all nosy- literally. She would butt her nose into everyones business!

But since then she’s grown and is now spending her second summer with us. We enjoy seeing her mature and become an incredible upright runner with posture a supermodel would envy.

Cleo has a great family that loves her and she’s now got a kid sister of her own, Augie. Augie is about one-fifth the size of Cleo and hasn’t met a human she doesn’t want to steal attention from! Cheers to more miles with beautiful dogs!

Dog number 5. Her family called us in the first month of launching DC Dog Runner and has now been with us for over five years! From her running style to her days (Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday) she’s as close to an automatic runner as there is in The District. She comes from a Duke family, but we won’t hold that against her! Only kidding, sort of, she and her family were early supporters of our little outfit here and we’re so happy she continues with us to this day!

Her nephew Neville (Australian Shepherd) joins us on weekends and is the energetic opposite to the typically low-key Ellie. It’s funny watching her get worked up randomly when she sees a pup that she’s had beef with before. She stays mostly silent except when she snorts a bit and wipes her front paw like a bull ready to charge. She’s never the instigator but always ready for the challenge!

We’re so glad to continue the relationship and keeping her in excellent physical condition as she ages - now 9!

Classic Heidi

Heidi is a lover! One half of the duo @bilbopugginsandsmaug on Insta she’s the lover and Detective Jack McCoy (pug) is the fighter.

I’ve never witnessed it, but I like to think when they’re chasing perps in the alleyways and he bites off a little more than he can chew, she picks him up by the gruff behind his neck and carries him to safety. My man never met an ankle he didn’t want to taste.

But enough about that guy, our lovely lady Heidi has been paired with all types and has a fantastic calming influence on all of them. She has to be top three (and maybe overall top) well heeled runners on the roster. She never pulls and will stay right to your side and just a step behind. She’s a dog runners dream!!!

Scout 2

The lady with many moods and many names. Her name is Scout and her mood is, “You, again?”

She goes by Scout 2 or Scoutty McScoutface Scouterson but those might be unsanctioned. She’s a husky who goes about her runs very business like. She handles the cold better than the heat, obviously. But honestly, she’s game all the same. Her mom is a kick ass recent AU Masters Grad who will be staying in the area to work! We’re so hyped to be able to keep spending time with this temperamental toot-head.

Keep it Classy, Scout.

Welcome To The Micro-Blog

Hey guys!

Welcome to the Micro-Blog! I’ll be introducing pups and saying a little about them and our relationships.

This is Penny! She’s been running with us for about 4 years now. Most of our miles covered Georgetown and the short off-road trails near her home. She now spends her weeks running with Sarah and Jessica! She’s a docile speedster for the most part but every now and then can get rambunctious. This Pit-Greyhound mix has one of the calmest temperaments of any pup we run. She doesn’t spook easy and to this day I’m not sure I know what her bark sounds like.

Enjoy the spotlight pretty lady, we love you!
